There is a well recognised need for existing and new infrastructure to be able to cope with increasing environmental and economic pressures. This symposium will bring together stakeholders, engineers and policy makers to explore the challenges that must be faced when designing infrastructure for the 21st century. Through a series of talks and open debates we will be asking some key questions on the subject, such as:
- How can we evaluate infrastructure for a super-long time horizon e.g. 100 years?
- Adaptable infrastructure: should we build buildings to fail…nicely?
- What makes infrastructure sustainable?
- Is ’sustainable’ good?
Ideas for other topics are welcome.
Registration: £50 (payable via PayPal)
